2022.01.18 23:17 uberkafka Is moving to Scotland doable for someone who is interested in law/politics/history?

Please let me know if there's a more proper subreddit to post this in, at the moment I'm just throwing around ideas of where I'd like to live in the future until something sticks.
Currently I'm a 20 year old American student studying Political Science and Russian at one of our state universities in the Northeast, and I've been considering moving out of the country as I become independent. Living in the United States is pretty expensive if you live in any city really, and I don't think I could ever move somewhere too hot or muggy. As someone with mental health issues, lots of treatment and even basic appointments are expensive, and I'm getting off of my parents' health insurance once I turn 26. The idea of living in a country with a decent baseline public healthcare system is very attractive, and the healthcare system stateside is something akin to a nightmare. I've read the cost of living in some Scottish cities are better than other cities in Europe.
Climate-wise, Scotland doesn't seem too outlandish for someone who's used to wild weather changing frequently (Vermont is like that, if you've lived there), and I've got to admit you all live in a beautiful country. I love hiking and I've always wanted to hike in Scotland, and Northern England as well as Wales too. I like the rain and clouds, so the weather isn't that much of a turnoff as lots of people say it is. I'll just pack more vitamin D supplements, lol.
I've always had a passion for history and law and the like, and I'm hoping to incorporate it into whatever job I pursue as I get older. Is that a viable career path in large cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen? I've read that the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, alongside Saint Andrews, are pretty great schools: I was considering pursuing a master's there, but that depends on whether I go to law school back here in the USA. Scotland seems like a country that's got a rich, vibrant history and culture as well as an abundance of natural beauty.

2022.01.18 23:17 Skylar_Star0787 At Krogers?

I went to Kroger Marketplace today, and the only Valentines stuff they had was candy, and school Valentines cards. The rest of the Valentines area was plastic storage tubs, tonnes of storage tubs. Do you guys think they haven't gotten the Squish in yet? In the toy area was only Ty☹ I am hoping I didn't miss the Squish, and that they will get Squish in. Other Krogers are not Marketplace, and even farther than this 30 mins away one.

2022.01.18 23:17 AllDayHay Complete clutch depression when shifting

My first vehicle had a manual transmission and I would always completely press the clutch in when shifting between gears. When I got my 21 WRX and drove it off the lot, my dad told me that I didn’t need to press the clutch all the way in to shift between gears. Just enough to separate the clutch from the flywheel to allow a shift to occur. Does anyone else depress the clutch just enough to allow a shift? Is this okay for the transmission?

2022.01.18 23:17 TheBrownKnight210 Tips on early total war games

So I had posted about a week ago about a good cheap computer to run earlier total war titles, and I managed to find a pretty good Asus for $400 that can run medieval 2 pretty good on high settings. I'm pretty sure it can run up to rome 2 honestly, super stoked about that.
I'm currently almost done with a medieval 1 Italian campaign, cuz I want to finally win once before moving onto the next games. Shogun 1 I don't really want to actually beat cuz honestly the gameplay, while fun, is way more outdated than medieval 1.
So my question is: what tips for Rome 1, medieval 2, and empire does anyone have?
For example; in medieval 1 control of the Mediterranean is key to economic success, and the fact that the golden hoard comes out around Russia means to not focus so much on eastern Europe. What tips like that will help in the next games for when I do finally move on to them?
(As for anyone wondering why I'm still playing the older games it's cuz as a teenager I discovered total war but never played past medieval 1 cuz my parents couldn't get me a decent pc, so now that I'm older Im playing all the games I never got to as a kid. Already beat AoE 3, and SC2 so now the TW games are next)

2022.01.18 23:17 LingLingToBe Guilt of Original Sin

I’ve been struggling with this topic recently, and haven’t found any satisfactory answers. God promises that the guilt of the father will not be passed on to his children. If that is the case, why can we incur the guilt of original sin?
Thank you in advance!

2022.01.18 23:17 dangoodspeed Missing basic Terminal commands

I'm decent with the terminal, but definitely not a UNIX expert. But a lot of basic Unix commands aren't working in my terminal. Every time I launch the terminal, it says:

/etc/zshrc:7: command not found: locale /etc/zshrc_Apple_Terminal:104: command not found: mkdir touch: /Users/dan/.zsh_sessions/A8E36041-3442-4824-8751-27F2A4EB51AF.historynew: No such file or directory
There's a bunch of common shell commands that aren't working besides mkdir and locale. I've also noticed ssh, ls, rm, cp, mv, cat... all say "zsh: command not found: ***" when I try to use them.
Commands that do work- cd, php.... I think that's it.

2022.01.18 23:17 gymrat505 Thoughts after cvt transmission flush?

So the dealership flushed my cvt today. They couldn’t find any record of it being done before. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t but it has 71,000 on it and it’s a 16 accord sport 4. The guy said it should have been done twice at this point. I thought I read every 60k. Is there an initial transmission flush that could have been missed too? It seems to move more fluidly now, and before something about after take off felt kind of surge’y. It could be a placebo or me not being used to a cvt. I’m the type to use cruise control everywhere and rarely leave eco mode although I did try out the paddles in sport and think that felt a little silly.
